Proceso de construcción de un sentido de pertenencia en inmigrantes internacionales residentes actualmente en la Ciudad de Aguascalientes

Abstract

La ciudad de Aguascalientes ha tenido notables desarrollos en diversos ámbitos, como el aumento poblacional o el crecimiento industrial y económico, además de transformaciones importantes en cuanto a su diversidad social. De entre estos terrenos, cabe destacar uno que ha sido más marcado en las últimas décadas: la inmigración a la ciudad por pobladores originarios de diferentes regiones del país, y de distintos lugares del mundo. Schütz (1974), se refiere a la pertenencia a un grupo como un un tránsito de significatividad, en el que se pasa por diferentes posibilidades, desde un extrañamiento inicial –un sentido de alienación- hasta tomar la pauta cultural nueva, en tanto sistema de significatividades, como propia, un sentido de pertenencia. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue indagar acerca del proceso de construcción de un sentido de pertenencia en los inmigrantes internacionales que habitan en la ciudad de Aguascalientes, a través de la narración de sus experiencias de vida en ella. En base al problema y la pregunta central de investigación, se combinó la auteotnografía con la metodología del portraiture, recuperando, por medio de entrevistas abiertas y de la introspección, experiencias personales del autor y de once participantes pertenecientes a tres grupos: inmigrantes europeos, mexicanomaericanos y latinoamericanos. Los resultados muestran que más que un desenlace, el sentido de pertenencia se constituye como un proceso en cuya construcción el sujeto juega un papel activo, así como que dicha construcción es paulatina y nunca lineal. En el proceso, los inmigrantes internacionales negocian y reconstruyen sus pautas culturales, produciendo pertenencias ambivalentes y una versatilidad cultural. En la construcción de estos sentidos de pertenencia juegan un papel determinante las redes sociales, es decir, los vínculos que los inmigrantes establecen con otros, y especialmente, los componentes emocionales de dichas vinculaciones.

Aguascalientes has had remarkable developments in several areas, such as an increase in population, or industrial and economic growth, as well as important transformations in its social diversity. Among these areas, there is one that has been more pronounced in recent decades: immigration to the city by residents from different regions of the country, and from around the world. Schütz (1974) refers to group belonging as a transit of meaning, in which the subject goes from an initial estrangement –a sense of alienation–, as far as taking the new cultural pattern, as a system of meaning, as his or her own, building a sense of belonging. The main objective of this research was to inquire about the process of building a sense of belonging in international immigrants who live in the city of Aguascalientes, through a narrative about their life experiences in it. Based on the research problem and central question, autoethnography was combined with portraiture, retrieving, through introspection and open interviews, personal experiences, both from the author and from eleven participants belonging to three groups: European immigrants, Mexican-American immigrants and Latin American immigrants. The results show that more than an outcome, sense of belonging is constituted as a process in which construction the subject plays an active role, and that such construction is gradual and never linear. In the process, international immigrants negotiate and reconstruct their cultural patterns, producing ambivalent senses of belonging and a cultural versatility. In the construction of these senses of belonging a decisive role is played by social networks, i.e. the links immigrants establish with others, and especially, the emotional components of such linkages.
