Resumen
El clado Bouteloua trifida está formada por dos taxas (B. trifida y B. kayi). B. trifida se distribuye en el centro y norte de México y al sur de Estados Unidos de América habitando planicies secas, laderas con pastizales y bosques de encino-pino. Hasta el momento se han propuesto dos hipótesis filogenéticas de Bouteloua que incluyen el clado B. trifida, realizadas por Columbus et al., (1998) y Peterson et al., (2015) mostrandolo como el clado más basal del género.
Vasey (1894) reporta que B. trifida presenta diferencias en la pubescencia de la lema. Dicha característica fue utilizada para designar dos variedades (B. trifida var. burkii y B. trifida var. trifida). Sin embargo, hasta el momento esta variación morfológica no ha sido sometida a análisis moleculares y ninguna de las inferencias realizadas previamente ha distinguido entre ellas.
En este trabajo se realizó un análisis morfológico comparativo entre muestras de diferentes localidades de B. trifida, prestando atención a la pubescencia de la lema. Así mismo, se realizaron inferencias moleculares para conocer si dicha diferencia morfológica está relacionada a diferencias genéticas y si es suficiente para validar las variedades. Para los análisis moleculares se emplearon los marcadores ITS de núcleo y rpl32-trnL de cloroplasto.
Morfológicamente B. trifida mostró diferencias en la pubescencia de la lema agrupando a muestras pubescentes y no pubescentes en el análisis morfométrico, sin embargo, dicha agrupación no coincide con las agrupaciones obtenidas en las inferencias moleculares.
Abstract
The Bouteloua trifida clade is formed by two taxa (B. trifida and B. kayi). B. trifida is distributed in central and northern Mexico and the southern United States of America in dry plains, hillsides with grasslands and forests of oak-pine. So far, two phylogenetic inferences include this clade by Columbus et al., (1998) and Peterson et al., (2015) this inference show it as the most basal of the genera.
Vasey (1894) reports that B. trifida has differences in the pubescence of the lemma. This characteristic was used to designate two varieties (B. trifida var. burkii and B. trifida var. trifida). However, until now this morphological variation has not been subjected to molecular analysis and none of the inferences made previously has distinguished between them.
In this work, a comparative morphological analysis was performed among samples of B. trifida from different locations, paying attention to the pubescence of the lemma. Likewise, molecular inferences were made to know if the lemma morphological difference is related to genetic differences and if it is enough to validate the varieties. For the molecular analyzes, we use ITS nuclear and rpl32-trnL chloroplast markers.
Morphologically, B. trifida showed differences in the pubescence of the lemma grouping pubescent and non-pubescent samples in the morphometric analysis, however, this grouping does not coincide with the groupings obtained in the molecular inferences.
