Atribuciones de causalidad ante conflictos en cónyuges con satisfacción e insatisfacción marital

Abstract

En psicología el tema de la satisfacción marital se ha abordado desde distintas variables, entre las que se encuentran las atribuciones de causalidad, las cuales se definen como las explicaciones que realizan las personas ante resultados positivos –éxito- y/o negativos – fracaso- (Weiner, 1985, 1986, 2001). La mayoría de los estudios sobre este tema han utilizado instrumentos psicométricos para evaluar dicha variable, teniendo como principal desventaja el evaluar atribuciones de causalidad sugeridas, descontextualizadas y ante situaciones que no son representativas para los cónyuges. La presente tesis tiene como objetivo conocer una investigación en el tema de las atribuciones de causalidad en cónyuges con satisfacción e insatisfacción marital. Participaron 10 parejas de la ciudad de Aguascalientes, México, seleccionadas de manera no probabilística en función a los siguientes criterios de inclusión: parejas casadas o que cohabitaran, parejas que tuvieran al menos dos años de vivir juntos y que tengan al menos un hijo. Se usó una metodología cualitativa que permitió recabar distintas atribuciones de causalidad no sugeridas a través de una entrevista semi-estructurada. Los hallazgos muestran que cada miembro de la relación atribuía a distintas causas un mismo resultado, así como una relación entre conflictos no resueltos, insatisfacción marital y atribuciones de causalidad externas, incontrolables y estables y una relación entre conflictos resueltos, satisfacción marital y atribuciones de causalidad internas y/o relacionales, controlables e inestables. Con base en estos resultados, se concluye que la entrevista es una herramienta que brinda información sobre distintos conflictos maritales, permite identificar atribuciones de causalidad no sugeridas, significativas y contextualizadas; el estudio de las atribuciones en las relaciones de pareja es un elemento que permitiría consensuar la causa de los conflictos para su mejor solución y así la mejora del nivel de satisfacción en el matrimonio.

In psychology the marital satisfaction has been approached from different variables, among which are causal attribution, they are defined as the explanations that people make when faced with positive results -success- and/or negative -failure- (Weiner, 1985, 1986, 2001). Most of the studies on this topic have used psychometric instruments to evaluate this variable, the main disadvantage of this methodology is that the attributions are suggested, decontextualized and they aren’t representative for the couples. The aim of this thesis is to present an investigation about attributions of causality in couples with marital satisfaction and dissatisfaction through an interview. Ten couples from the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico, were selected in a non-probabilistic manner based on the following inclusion criteria: married or cohabitating couples who had at least two years of living together and had at least one child. It was found that the implemented methodology allowed to collect different causal attributions not suggested; likewise, it was observed that each member of the relationship attributed the same result to different causes, as well as a relationship between unresolved conflicts, marital dissatisfaction and external, uncontrollable and stable attributions of causality. Based on these results, it’s concluded that the interview is a tool that provides information on different marital conflicts, allows identifying causal attributions that are not suggested, significant and contextualized; the study of the attributions in the couple relationships is an element that would allow to reach a consensus on the cause of the conflicts for their best solution and thus the improvement of the level of satisfaction in the marriage.
