Switch-Statin-switch without cardiovascular Hazard

Abstract

RESUMEN El intercambio terapéutico o sustitución terapéutica alude al uso de drogas alternativas a aquellas que han sido prescritas específicamente. Debido a que los costos del cuidado de la salud crecen inexorablemente a nivel mundial; la atorvastatina genérica (AG) se ha desarrollado y comercializado bajo el entendimiento de que provee el mismo beneficio y seguridad, con un costo reducido en comparación con atorvastatina innovadora (AI). En este estudio se evaluó el efecto biológico de AG de marca Sandoz® sobre la cifra de colesterol LDL después de 12 semanas de administración a dosis equivalente en individuos que habían mantenido una dosis estable de AI al menos 12 semanas antes del intercambio y se determinó que la AG objeto de este estudio, es una fórmula de estatina rentable que provee flexibilidad clínica adecuada para maximizar el beneficio clínico sin una diferencia en el efecto biológico y con la evidencia que justifica la decisión de prescribirla. ABSTRACT The therapeutic substitution or therapeutic interchange refers to the use of alternatives drugs to those that have been specifically prescribed. The costs of the healthcare have grow globally; the generic atorvastatin (AG) has been developed and marketed under the understanding that provides the same benefit and security, but with small cost compared to innovator atorvastatin (AI). In this study the biological effect of AG Sandoz® on the amount of LDL cholesterol after 12 weeks of administration of equivalent doses in individuals who had maintained a stable dose of AI at least 12 weeks before the exchange was evaluated and determined that the AG, is a formula that provides an appropriate cost-effective statin with clinical flexibility to maximize the clinical benefit obtained with the same biological effect and with evidence that justifying the decision to prescribe it.
